Rainy days

This weekend Autumn has well and truly arrived. Its been chilly in the mornings and evenings, but the weekend started off wet and horrid -a stay indoors kind of day. This was actually quite welcome so we could have a weekend mooching around. Its been nice to sit and play games, have a tidy up, play with the cats and do some baking. We both decided fudge was a good bake for a rainy day, along with some profiteroles and bread and soup. We also got to test out our new waffle iron for breakfast and now the house smells of bacon and maple syrup.

Having hibernated and eaten wayyyyy to much sugar, we figured we should actually leave the house and go for a walk in the fresh air, and keep an eye out for sloes, which seem to be non-existent here. We’ve just got back from a lovely walk around Fernwood arboretum where the trees are in full colour and there are lots of sculptures to look at and to take interesting photos. We are missing popping into a good ole English pub for  A roasty so we are going to make one, but trying out an American meatloaf recipe…. mostly because we have yet to find any joints of lamb anywhere!!! I really want some lamb! and some sloes!
